Sisley Phytobuste Intensive Bust Compound Review

When I found out I’d be reviewing this product, I was intrigued to say the least. A smart, small bottle waving an extremely hefty price tag must surely be either a miracle product, or a rip-off – I couldn’t wait to find out which. I’m not particularly into labels and although I know Sisley is a well-respected brand, its price range is well beyond my normal beauty budget. So this promised to be a treat – or an interesting experiment. At £155 per neat little 50ml bottle, the pressure was on.

So what’s the hype? According to the Sisley-Paris website, this product will firm and tone the bust, promote elasticity and promises to increase the skin’s resilience by a very exact 34% within just three weeks. Furthermore, ‘its ultra-fine and light texture immediately penetrates the skin and is particularly effective post breastfeeding or after dramatic weight loss.’ Plant and algae extracts of Horsetail, Fucus, Tormentil, Ivy, Yarrow, Red Vine and various essential oils including Juniper and Marjoram are the magic ingredients tempting the cream’s affluent audience. (At this point I should mention that I’ve read negative reviews online querying the lack of published scientific proof that these ingredients actually work, however I’m not a scientist and, providing it’s safe, I couldn’t wait to see what came out of the bottle.)

The packaging is classy in an understated fashion, and the fluid itself is amazingly light, with a fragrance that can only be described as ‘expensive’. It goes on like a dream, dries quickly and has an instantly moisturising effect. The instructions advise to apply morning and night after bathing, and target not just the bust area, but also the shoulders, the décolletage up to the base of the neck and the inner arms. My one gripe – and it’s a small one – would be that the cream is of such a light consistency that it rather shoots out of the pump action bottle. Quite a bit went on the carpet until I got used to the super-sensitive mechanism!

After four weeks of use (they recommended three, but hey – in for a penny, in for £155), my bust was visibly in tip-top condition. In fact, it’s never looked so good. Would I recommend this product? Definitely … if you can afford it.

Verdict: Top of the range intensive bust cream that is head and shoulders above the rest I’ve tested, but oh so expensive. How the other half live!
